The first trailer for “Dune”: Soon! But only exclusively in the cinema?

The sci-fi epic “Dune” is due to hit cinemas in December 2020 – so it’s time for a first trailer! And there will be very soon, along with a new trailer for “Wonder Woman 1984”.

“Dune” and “Wonder Woman 1984” are next to Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” the big blockbusters that Warner Bros. still has up to date for the 2020 cinema year. For “Tenet” there is now finally the hopefully final launch date for Germany: On August 26, 2020 the thriller will hit the cinemas. That would actually be the perfect time to finally show the first “Dune” trailer, but in fact Warner should release it even earlier!

Because before “Tenet” hits the cinemas, Christopher Nolan’s mega-hit “Inception” will be shown again on the big screen, and Warner has apparently chosen this point in time:

The first “Dune” trailer is to be shown for the cinema rerun of “Inception” – in Germany that is on August 14, 2020.

Other countries are even earlier, for example Denmark on August 12, 2020. On an advertisement from a Danish cinema chain that the “Dune” trailer will be shown together with the re-release of “Inception”, the message from the very reliable site Trailer is also based Track, which we are referring to here.

According to the trailer track, a Portuguese cinema chain has now also confirmed the “Dune” trailer for the “Inception” cinema screenings.

First “Dune” trailer will be online later!

But we do not expect that the first “Dune” trailer will be published online at the same time as it is shown on the cinema screens. So you shouldn’t expect that we will officially see it online on August 12th, 202, when the re-release phase of “Inception” begins.

Because in the USA, the “Inception” re-performance will not run until August 21, 2020 – which could also have an impact on online publication.

Trailer-Track also explicitly points this out in a separate tweet. The fact that the “Dune” trailer is initially only shown exclusively in the cinemas and does not appear directly online also makes a lot more sense: After all, the “Dune” trailer and the rest of the bonus show should lure people back into the cinemas what would be pulverized for the USA if the trailer was published online too early!

The fact that the “Dune” trailer is initially only shown exclusively in the cinemas and does not appear directly online also makes a lot more sense:

To note, as some are slightly misinterpreting this – neither trailer (nor the Tenet sizzle) is likely dropping * online * on August 12. They are due to screen in cinemas with the Inception re release, which is released internationally from that date and in the US from August 21. pic.twitter.com/XppghtQS68— TrailerTrack (@trailertrack) July 29, 2020

So if it stays with the cinema-exclusive release, you will probably only get to see the first “Dune” trailer from August 14, 2020 before the “Inception” re-performances in your movie theater.

you will probably get the first “Dune” trailer from August 14, 2020 before the “Inception” re-performances only in your movie theater.

And when does it come online?

We don’t expect an online release until the US date on August 21st – or even at the start of “Tenet” (August 26th), because here the “Dune” trailer should be on the (almost ) are shown on screens around the world and are no longer quite so exclusive.

We don’t expect an online release until the US date on August 21 – or even at the start of “Tenet” (August 26),

Also: trailer for “Wonder Woman 1984”, clip for “Tenet”

A “Dune” trailer is probably not the only new material that we will get from Warner shortly: According to the Danish cinema chain mentioned above, a new “Wonder Woman 1984” trailer will also be shown before “Inception”.

According to the Danish cinema chain mentioned at the beginning, a new “Wonder Woman 1984” trailer will also be shown before “Inception”.

All of this supports our news from June 2020 that there will be a big bonus show in the cinemas for the anniversary re-release of “Inception” (the good piece is ten years old!): Warner will then have 123Movies of his upcoming ones Deliver highlights, u. a. on the soon to be launched “Tenet” (4- to 5-minute clip), “Wonder Woman 1984” and possibly also “Conjuring 3: Under the Spell of the Devil”.

Warner will then provide previews of his upcoming highlights

At the time of this news, “Conjuring 3” still had a start date in September 2020 – but has since been postponed to June 3, 2021. So we don’t expect a trailer anymore, but maybe a brief glimpse.

More bonus material?

Warner may also use the opportunity to tease other highlights such as “The Suicide Squad” (theatrical release: August 5, 2021) or “The Batman” (theatrical release: September 30, 2021) in order to rekindle the audience’s desire for cinema. This last point is pure speculation and would be a big surprise.

But we also speculated on a “Dune” trailer back then. And before “Inception” there will also be bonus material for the main film from 2010 itself. According to previous information, this should be a special about camera work, currently there is talk of “a special introduction by Christopher Nolan”.

And before “Inception” there will also be bonus material for the main film from 2010 itself.

Dynamic situation

Finally, of course, it must be said: All this information should be treated with caution. Not only because we are partly in the realm of speculation, but because the current extremely dynamic situation makes it very difficult for even seasoned industry journals to be able to make absolutely reliable statements. The start of “Tenet” has just been postponed again, the cinema situation is different in every country – a lot can change in a very short time.

Finally, of course, it must be said:
